Let the Outdoors in with GEM
Patio and French (also called “garden”) door styles both maximize light, ventilation and views. The key difference between the two is the way they open: patio doors slide while French doors swing on hinges. Patio doors are well-suited to contemporary homes while French doors blend perfectly with Patio doors allow you to place furniture in front of the non-operating door–a nice space-saving feature. Purchase a centre-hung set of French doors with one fixed door, however, and you can save some space.
Today’s patio and French doors are energy efficient, attractive and secure–but different models have different advantages. We’ve summarized some of the key aspects of our manufacturers below, but recommend coming in to our showroom so we can help you select a product that matches your priorities.
Patio Doors
All Weather patio doors don’t compromise on looks or energy efficiency–all models are Energy Star certified. Patio doors come in heavy-duty vinyl with wood-reinforced jambs. All Weather’s premium patio door offers a Douglas fir interior with a durable metal-clad exterior in a variety of colours, multi-point locking system and attractive hardware. Between-the-glass grilles can be added to any model.
Sunview vinyl frame patio doors combine high quality with competitive pricing. Corrosion-free materials, weather stripping and weather seals ensure performance. Options include grilles, hardware finishes and internal mini-blinds. Save money and increase comfort with low-E glass, argon gas and thermal spacers, available on some models. For those looking to widen their view on the world, one Sunview model can combine fixed and operable units up to six panels wide.
Since 1981, customers have been enjoying the reliability of Clearview’s aluminum and steel plus aluminum-reinforced vinyl patio doors on everything from sunrooms to recreational vehicles. French & Garden Doors
All Weather’s French and garden doors combine old world styling and new millennium technology. Wood interior French doors come up to four panels wide. They feature exceptional protection against warping, a multi-point locking system and a metal-clad exterior available in 52 premium finishes. All models have All Weather’s revolutionary one-piece door sill and premium door sweep and can be customized with between-the-glass grilles.
Palma’s two-panel garden doors come factory white or painted. Options include venting, caming, bevels and internal miniblinds.
True Tech’s 24-guage steel garden door collection comes up to four panels wide with the option of a sliding screen that can be painted to match your door, unifying the look. Glass options include interior grilles, venting and even a wrought iron effect. Also available in an 8-foot high model.
